Lauri Põldre, our Sales Director, had an opportunity to interview Eric Sterling, Senior Vice President, Marketing for Siemens PLM software yesterday at Hannover Messe and Mr. Sterling had something cool to show us - Teamcenter Mobility that runs on iPad and other mobile devices.
Transcript of the short interview below and head over to Siemens PLM Software Blog afterwards to read more about how Teamcenter goes mobile.
Lauri Põldre: Hi, this is GrabCAD at Hannover Messe 2011. I am talking to Eric Sterling, Senior Vice President, Marketing for Siemens PLM software. Mr. Sterling, what is your today’s innovation at Hannover Messe?
Eric Sterling: Well, tomorrow we’ll be announcing mobile device support for engineering community to grab information, look at information and understand what they need to do with that information. All from a mobile device like that.
Lauri Põldre: What have been the biggest engineering challenges and trends that will change the way you do product development at Siemens?
Eric Sterling: Well, from a product standpoint it’s complexity - complexity of cross-domain information that has to be related. Software, electrical and mechanical - it’s no longer just …? it’s the combination that forms the innovation. Cross-software, electrical and mechanical. So that’s driving us as a software company.
Lauri Põldre: Are you offering something for smaller companies?
Eric Sterling: Absolutely. As you can see, this is a very complex turbine engine. We deal with large enterprises that mill these all the way to smaller enterprises that would do a fixture like this or a mold like this. So from a software standpoint we have to be able to handle from the very small to the very large enterprises.
Lauri Põldre: Thank you, mr. Sterling.
