Verislav is our top Engineer on GrabCAD, #1 in terms of points. Usually we put the spotlight on those who aren’t on the frontpage of GrabCAD, but there comes a time when you have to answer that question – how did you do it? And who are you? And Verislav kindly agreed to answer a few questions for our Engineer’s spotlight.
Every Engineer started somewhere. I remember reading a comment by W.wolf, “When I was five, my family was always worried that I'd hurt myself sleeping with a screwdriver in one hand and a pair of pliers in the other ... Now I'm studying mechanical engineering ...” Not quite the same way for Verislav, but similar. “I loved drawing and painting since I was a little boy, as well as mathematics and physics, so I somehow linked it all together, and found myself in engineering. “ After years of technical school and becoming adept with pen and paper, and eventually CAD, Verislav founded his own private company, designing and manufacturing “tools for casting patterns, injection tools, press tools, deep drawing tools, etc.”.
Whilst looking for a 3D Model of Rubik’s cube, he discovered GrabCAD and began to upload his own work, first a little bit and now almost every day. But how did you gain so many points? It’s a bit of mystery to Verislav. “I initially tried to have the best possible position at rankings. I didn’t know exactly how to achieve this, but I tried to upload as many good models as possible, and to make as many good rendering for other engineers. When GC ranking system changed, just by chance, to my great surprise and delight, my position on the list improved a lot.” Since then, he’s been doing exactly what he had been doing before, but with more intensity than before.
No surprise then that Verislav receives a massive amount of mail. Not fan mail persay, but more like questions, criticisms, suggestions and praise. “I try to reply to all messages, and to help those who need it. I think that the key to success in any business is to constantly improve, constantly explore, not being ashamed to learn from the best, because that way we enrich our knowledge and acquire new experience” We completely agree.
We talked about GrabCAD and the future of CAD in general – Verislav was pretty upbeat. He really appreciated the constant improvements we were providing, especially those in response to his own suggestions and critiques. Profiles are going to be more and more important as time goes along. He predicts (as we do) that every Engineer will have a profile and that GrabCAD will have the largest CAD library in the World (we already do). And its absolutely vital for the future. ”CAD is very important for the future and we see more and more fields that cannot exist without CAD. It will probably soon become one of the main subjects in primary schools."
