Sometimes you want to host and share a CAD model on the internet but you want to restrict the access to just a few people. Perhaps the model belongs to your company and you don't have the rights to release it into public domain. Or it's a pet project that is not yet polished enough to be published to a wider audience.
Whatever the reason GrabCAD has just the solution - hosting a private model. It's dead simple too – while uploading a new model look for these in the upload form:
As you see you have three options:
Publicly visible - the default state, everyone can view and download your CAD model.
Private - only you can view the model, great for backing up work from a temporary computer.
Share with these emails - sends a specific impossible-to-guess link to the file to the emails you enter.
You can later change the status in model view.
One example of how this feature could be useful: Engineering professon in one of the Estonian universities asked his students to upload their models to GrabCAD and then share it out to only him so he could evaluate the work.
