About Spa Modules
Spa Modules has been designing, installing and refurbishing luxury swimming pools, spa and bath facilities already since 2005. Their product range includes swimming pools, hydro spas, swim spas, saunas, steam rooms, plunge baths, dry heat treatment rooms, foot spas, experience showers, and all other types of thermal suite cabins and a comprehensive range of treatment area equipment.
How Spa Modules uses GrabCAD
While Spa Modules offers some off-the-shelf products the majority of client orders are custom solutions to fit that specific client requirements, be it spa furniture (as shown on the example photos here) or hydro spa installations or something else from the product range.
As is usual in this line of the business then orders come in big spikes. A quiet period can be followed by a big order from a client who is completely refurbishing it’s spa complex or pool area in a hotel. Clients always expect short deadlines so being able to react to these busy times in timely manner is one core requirement that Spa Modules has.
In-house product designers who work with the clients turn their requirements into early sketches of the products. These sketches and technical requirements (size, material, weight tolerances etc) are used as the input for the engineers who create technical drawings and rendered images based on 3D models.
After considering different options Spa Modules decided to use GrabCAD for all of its engineering needs instead of hiring full-time in-house engineers. This approach gives the company the best of both worlds - having on-demand engineering resource without having to pay for the periods of slower activities.
Committing to a long term co-operation takes away the usual downsides associated with outsources solution - partner not knowing the specifics of the client’s business, communication problems and overhead, initial time for working out processes and procedures.
Simple and quick work process
The work process is straightforward and streamlined for speed and quality. Spa Modules product designer uploads sketches to GrabCAD’s project management website, these materials are checked for details by a senior engineer and then assigned to an engineer who has worked on Spa Modules projects before and knows the background, details and requirements of the client.
Spa Modules can monitor the whole work process and stay up to date on the progress. Before delivering work back to the client GrabCAD’s senior engineer once again double checks the quality of the finished work.
The whole process takes around 48 hours which guarantees that Spa Modules can react to the requests from new and existing clients in a prompt manner which in turn has had a positive effect on the sales numbers.
The rendered photorealistic images are used to seal the sale as they give a fair representation of the finished product and can be put into context of the actual rooms. These same images are used in sales and marketing materials.
Spa Modules uses GrabCAD as its on-demand "virtual engineer" and the cut cost on engineering resource together with increased sales means over 30% more revenues for the company.
