About CMI Durango
CMI Durango, created in 1993 in Seville, Spain, is dedicated to manufacturing machine tools, such as bridge milling machines, grinding machines, vertical lathes and vertical boring machines. CMI Durango also provides retrofitting (reconstructing and modernizing old, large-sized machines) and maintenance services for these machines. The company takes full advantage of its vast knowledge and experience in machine technology, designing machines according to each customer's specifications and changing machine dimensions to adapt to customers' needs.
How CMI Durango uses GrabCAD
Milling machines are complex, large-scale equipment which are manufactured to order and according to each customer's specifications. There are no standard models or stock items. Manufacturing each machine is a lengthy process, with extensive project management and specific requirements. Specifications and measures are usually handled in technical CAD files, which are not suitable for sales or marketing purposes, and CMI Durango cannot use photos of the existing machines for sales purposes as they are customer specific.
However, providing visual materials would help the company to differentiate itself from its competitors and help to effectively explain the machine concepts to potential customers. For these reasons, CMI Durango has ordered photorealistic images of the machines based on CAD files from GrabCAD.
After receiving an order, GrabCAD finds the best available rendering expert from a network of over 11,000. GrabCAD normally provides three images of each each machine, offering views from different angles, but sometimes more images are provided upon request.
Before using GrabCAD, CMI Durango did not have proper visual sales materials available.
