One of the lesser-known parts of GrabCAD is the Request Page. Everyday, Engineers and Designers are asked (very nicely, of course) with how to create, render or find a certain part or product (and only out of the kindness of their heart). Instead of asking on GrabCAD Tutorials (which is good for questions about specific software), users can always ask for help on GrabCAD Requests. We thought we'd share some of the best requests we saw.
Pratik Kumar needed a fairly simple model of a 4-stroke single cylinder engine. Abhijeet has been on GrabCAD for a very long time, joining us when we had fewer than 10,000 users. He kindly created and shared a model in Solidworks. Heck he even threw in an animation because that's how awesome Abhijeet is.
Then of course, there are those requests that go unanswered. The secret is not asking too much - everyone's busy and it's impossible to spend all your time for nothing but 'thanks'. Totally understandable. But what if you're helping Victor Bonavarte make a sea-going BMW X5? I'd pitch in!
This is cool. About a year ago Tony O'Halloran asked for help for a model of the 'Abdomal Vena Cava' vein. Usually everyone asks for cams, pistons or product designs. And most go unanswered. Yet ALI stepped up and posted a model. That ain't easy to do - you have to find a picture and model it. Thanks ALI!
And then sometimes you ask and it turns out that someone else has a copy. Usually the library is a reliable place to find any sort item you need. But then you either miss an item or something is poorly tagged. Here's a Kukri, a special type of knife made famous by the Gurkhas of Nepal. Slavko Zorica was unable to properly model the blade and needed something to help him reverse engineer and learn more. Lucky for him Verislav Mudrak had the right copy. GrabCAD Requests: one way to cut down a problem.
