Grab your pens and pencils GrabCAD! It's another sketch challenge just like the GearingUp Challenge. Croatia car company Doking Automotiv needs your ideas to create a luxurious interior design for their XD model. It's a small car, but don't create some spartan - go for something that exudes luxury. Think leather, fine stitching, smooth gunmetal shifters and the glimmer of silvered glass.
The XD has been show across the world at many carshows. It's size reflects a desire among consumers for a car with less impact on the environment and consumes less gas. 'Think Small' is the adage here. Doking's company slogan is 'Driving First Class'. How can you combine the two? Small, not but cramped. Efficient design, but not simple. Ecological and inexpensive, but not austere and cheap. And try to think how easy for the consumer it would be to customize.
Don't forget that in this challenge, the Pen is mightier than the CAD. Any CAD-crafted entries won't be accepted, drawn a B1 sized poster at 300 dpi (B1 is 100 by 70.7 cm).
Every project must contain:
1. Authors name and surname
2. Short description in English
3. Dashboard view
4. Bird’s-eye view of interior
5. Two views from different perspectives
6. Driver's seat
And the design? There's a .3ds file available for download on the Challenge page. Your submission must include three seats, three touchscreens on the dashboard (12" for the middle one, 17" on each side.) and of course, don't forget the Doking Automotiv logo.
You will have a whole 3 months to prepare the perfect sketch design. Plenty of time to rest those hands between intense sketching/erasing and to patch up the papercuts. Good luck everyone!
