Winners – GrabCAD Pod-Races Collaborative Project
As we improve GrabCAD Workbench (known as Beta-tools and Teams) we’ve been working closely with beta-testers like GrabCADr Tommy Mueller. By putting our work through the motions we can figure out what we’ve missing and what we’re doing right. Last month some 37 GrabCADrs donated time to create their own Pod-racer, á la Star Wars Episode I. At the end, Tommy set-up a voting system for people to select the best – first time we’ve ever had a public vote. Here are the results!
Best Appearance - Bryan Morris
Chrome, curves and fins…one thinks of 1950′s or Art Deco with this design…
Best Design - Stephen Nyberg
One engine, one pod by the one-and-only Stephen Nyberg!
Best Handling - Hans de Ridder
This was a clear choice – with these many control services, how could you ever lose control if you had your hands on the stick?
Most Creative - Lance Skelly
This is a creative use of a tank… well three tanks actually!
Most Intimidating - Robert Voogt
Intimidation depends on how big your engine is. GrabCAD can agree!
Most Likely To Win 1st Place - Krista Casal
Sizeable engines for power…. small pod to reduce weight… looks like a winner to me!
Most Likely To Win 2nd Place - Rusty Smith
Open-air cockpit = more visibility. Also, check the aerodynamic surfacing – absolutely key.
Most Likely To Win 3rd Place - Hans de Ridder
“2 Fast 4 U” – ’nuff said.
Link is now public – take a look here for more. Big thanks to everyone who jumped into this project feet-first. Everyone on the GrabCAD team learned a little bit more from all the commentary, advice and hints from all the participants. A newer, better GrabCAD Workbench is going to be released all because of you! And of course, if you want to help, click here to get your invite and become a Beta-tester as well!

One of the best times I ever had working with GrabCAD collaborators and models! All the participants and voters made this an uber-special event! Right on guys and girls! But just remember, I’m not from the Empire, but I strike back!
This was a fun one with some awesome pods.
…and just a little link to cap it off on my blog post @ http://pdxeffects.com/collaborative-pod-race-final-results/
Thanks JF for the valuable share here on GrabCAD!
