After the announcement that Workbench offers Collaborative Product Development features, I posted the first reactions from the CAD analysts. Since then we have seen even more positive reviews- including some in-depth analysis of the Workbench product and the GrabCAD company as a whole.

Everyone talks about Dropbox when it comes to data sharing. GrabCAD’s new data management tools work in a very similar manner. ...This offers something completely different. It’s simple, pretty effective and works how things should. I’d imagine that GrabCAD have more up their collective sleeve, but at present, with this release/update, I can’t wait to see what they offer up next.

DesktopEngineering: GrabCAD Workbench Entices More Users with Added Features
At $0 to $49 per user per month, GrabCAD Workbench, a cloud-hosted collaboration and file-sharing service, must have sounded like April Fools’ joke to some, but it was not. Since it came online in April, the product has picked up 15,000 users. Last week, GrabCAD decided to boost its functionality with added features to join the desktop and the cloud repository.

Design & Motion: GrabCAD Workbench just got a lot smarter...
(Partner Space) is probably the feature I’m most excited about. A very common hassle for designers/engineers is getting their manufacturing data ready to be sent off, and then the actual process of sending it off, to the suppliers. While many tools exist for rapid creation of data such as profile cutting data, there aren’t many tight workflows for actually delivering this data. Most companies I have seen resort to sending it via email. Everybody knows the frustrations of following conversations by email. Let’s face it, it’s an old technology, and while it has its place, I think the delivery of manufacturing data can be done much better. Enter Workbench Partner Spaces….

The additional collaboration tools are definitely setting up Workbench to be a formidable solution for any companies project data management needs. With continued honing of the feature set I think Workbench will be ready to become a top notch solution for any company wanting to move on to the next generation of project data management.
