GrabCAD is constantly working together with universities - the place where future engineers are shaped. And with the new semesters starting, we are combining GrabCAD with actual course work. As a result, Tallinn's University of Technology and University of Applied Science will both be using GrabCAD as the platform for their computer aided design courses this spring.
So what are the "soon to be" engineers tackling this spring? They will be given an assignment to design a speedboat. Different requirements include an original look, cutting edge construction and and excellent performance. They will be given maximum dimensions, some material specifications and an extra challenge of designing foldable roof, just like in a modern sports roadster (so you could drive the boat with roof up or roof down). Everything else is up the imagination of the students. Oh, they'll be using a 200 horse power motor from GrabCAD libray.
Students will host their project files in our library, so that the judges panel can check out their boats as they start to form. Plus this way students can get inspiration from each others work, that's one of the main points of Grabcad, after all. You can see young engineers in action by visiting our library and keeping an eye open for boating related models. Know something about marine engineering and boat design? Why not lend a hand and comment on their work. I'm sure they appreciate it.
This and many other speedboats can now be found in our boat section.
