GrabCAD has made some changes to empower serious engineers to navigate and find useful content everyday. Since this morning, many of you have likely spotted the changes for Home feed and the new Notifications feature. While some changes are obvious, some are not, hence a more detailed explanation of the updates is in order.
We took a long time brainstorming and experimenting with the new popular feed. We know that there are an incredible amount of impressive CAD models and tutorials uploaded every day, yet they often disappear from the feed or dissolve in the amount of comments some older models receive day in and day out.
The main goal for adding a Popular feed was to bring up models and tutorials that make the whole Engineering community proud of the profession by highlighting models that GrabCAD engineers will appreciate the most. This is the feed worth checking out to get an overview of the best uploads to GrabCAD recently.
You should be familiar with the following feed already, but we've made some improvements there as well. From now on all the CAD models, all Q&A topics, all challenges and engineers that you decide to follow will appear in this feed. To be more precise, the feed includes:
- all renderings, revisions and formats of your followed models
- all new models added as entries to the challenges you follow
- all answers and tutorials to the questions you follow
To get content to your Following feed, you simply have to click the red 'Follow' button on any model, question, or engineer that you're interested in. The following feed is especially useful to see updates of only the specific content you enjoy.
The New Feed lists all latest models, added renderings and latest questions. We recommend checking this out if you are a frequent and severely addicted GrabCADer.
Notifications are a great new feature which replaces the previous 'My feed' and lists all the updates that relate to your activity in GrabCAD. In short, you will get all the following info in the Notifications page:
- comments, renderings, revisions, formats, likes and followers of your models
- all the above for models that are shared with you
- answers, comments and votes to your questions and answers
- comments and winners of challenges that you follow
- comments of models that you follow
- followers of your profile
- your new badges
All these changes should make browsing GrabCAD much more interesting, and yes, faster (we've been ramping up our code for that!). There will be an extra feature to configure your notification settings-- This is something we are working on at the moment, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, you can always leave a comment, send us a private message or reply to Hardi's topic in the Q&A to share your thoughts on the new layout.
Happy GrabCADing!
