GrabCAD is about "open engineering" - helping engineers break down barriers, communicate and share more easily, and build great products faster. Even though engineering is a team sport, there are lots of challenges to being a great team, and we believe that open engineering can help overcome these barriers. Sometimes the challenge is rooted in technology, sometimes it's around process or content, but sometimes it's just about finding and communicating with the right people.
We at GrabCAD see these challenges in our own company, especially since we are spread across offices in Cambridge, MA USA, Cambridge, England, and Tallinn, Estonia. It's not always easy to keep people in three locations on the same page. We use the best technology, we make sure our process and content are shared, but we also work on getting the right people in place. Today I'm happy to announce we've made an important step on the team front by asking Renno Paat to assume the role of Estonian Country Manager in our Tallinn office.
Renno is our head of QA and he'll continue to play that role, but he's agreed to take on the additional responsibility of ensuring that our Tallinn team is at peak performance. This means making sure we bring on the right people, give them the tools they need to be effective. and engage them fully in the global GrabCAD culture. I'm confident that Renno will do a great job.
Renno had this to say: "I'm very excited to be part of GrabCAD. Looking forward to what we're already and going change for the industry and community folks out there. I'm sure we will face many interesting challenges, but for making this happen we have strongest and the best people."
If your organization stretches across countries or continents, we'd love to hear how you overcome communications and cultural challenges - please leave a comment below. Thanks!
