We experienced an outage with our uploader for 15 hours yesterday. It is now up and running again.
First I want to apologize for our error, which caused a poor member experience for many. Some members were not able to upload at all yesterday, which is just not acceptable to us and is unfair to you. Rest assured that we have taken precautions and measures to make sure this kind of error does not happen in the future. There is no good reason for an outage like this, but we understand that you may want more details. Here is a brief description of the problem from our Chief Architect, Amos:
Certain uploads to our website take a longer amount of time and get cancelled by our servers. As a solution, we rolled out changes to give uploads more time to finish which meant more upload success for our members. However due to a configuration error, our solution led to more errors. The servers started rejecting many uploads altogether. This configuration error has now been fixed and the outcome restored, more successful uploads for you.
