Continuing with its mission to support the next generation of engineers, GrabCAD today announced new programs to support students, including special discount pricing for universities and corporate sponsorship of the high school program FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
With the introduction of new educational pricing, professors and college students can access GrabCAD’s cloud-based PDM solution, Workbench, for 83% off the standard monthly rate of $59. Students will have professional grade Product Data Management with next gen external collaboration capabilities for just $10 a month.
GrabCAD is also happy to announce its corporate sponsorship of FIRST and the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC®) at the national level. FIRST designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating young people to pursue opportunities in science, technology, and engineering. As part of the sponsorship, every team will have complimentary access to Workbench for improved CAD file management and collaboration. GrabCAD is already a sponsor at the local level for teams such as “Nemesis” of Robbinsville High School, NJ and the “GearTicks” of Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School in Massachusetts.
“GrabCAD Workbench has been great for a number of reasons,” says Anne Hutchinson, Coach of LSRHS GearTicks FIRST Tech Challenge team. “As a coach, I like that I have visibility into which students are working on the robot between meetings. As an engineering team, Workbench allows us to design a more complex robot. We are solving problems in the design phase rather than figuring things out after we've built the robot.”
Lincoln Sudbury student and GearTick team member Catherine Appleby added "GrabCAD has enabled us to quickly share and collaborate on our robot designs. We no longer have to fuss around with making sure all team members are getting the latest model."
Educational pricing of Workbench and the FIRST sponsorship are exciting additions to GrabCAD’s strong alliance with STEM education. GrabCAD also sponsors a variety of other student teams for university programs building Formula 1 cars, robot submarines, and satellites.
