One year ago, Stratasys unveiled a product within the GrabCAD Additive Manufacturing Platform that enabled agile and scalable manufacturing for additive: the GrabCAD Software Development Kit (GrabCAD SDK).
The GrabCAD SDK gives customers the power to manage and support their 3D printers as a part of a smart factory floor. This is made possible by allowing Stratasys technology to integrate with existing manufacturing execution system (MES) and product lifecycle management (PLM) framework to capitalize on Industry 4.0 capabilities.
At the time of its release, the GrabCAD Printer Connectivity SDK was only able to integrate with select Stratasys FDM printers. Today that SDK is available for integration with a wide range of Stratasys PolyJet 3D printers.
Here is the list of compatible PolyJet 3D printers:
- Stratasys J8 Series Printers
- Stratasys J7 Series Printers
- Stratasys J5 Series Printers
- Stratasys J3 Series Printers
- Stratasys Connex3 Printer
Combining Connectivity and Hyper Realism
The GrabCAD Printer Connectivity SDK integrates Stratasys 3D printers with enterprise applications such as ERP, BI, and Digital Rights Management. It also communicates with MES systems to enable automation and production data collection, in addition to analytics.
PolyJet and FDM are dominant 3D printing technologies. FDM technology is usually associated with automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries due to excelling at fabricating production grade end use parts and components. FDM printer’s recent integration into the factory had been made possible through connectivity software. Now this integration is coming to PolyJet technology.
PolyJet printers have the ability to create parts with design realism in mind by enabling the use of multiple colors and textures making it a great choice for creating hyper realistic looking parts. This design realism afforded by Stratasys PolyJet technology has multiple uses within a myriad of industries like medical, dental, consumer products, and even fashion.
These industries and Stratasys PolyJet printers have been looking for a way to connect to manufacturing systems in the same way as Stratasys FDM printers. With the GrabCAD SDK, customers can now connect and manage both Stratasys PolyJet and FDM 3D printers on their factory floor.
Stratasys is truly embracing the needs of multiple industries by not only providing the new PolyJet connectivity SDK, but also by launching a new dedicated Fashion 3D Printer.
