At first sight fishing and computer-aided design or CAD don’t have that much in common but even mechanical engineers are people and some of them are bound to be fond of fishing and everything related.
Going through the keywords that bring traffic to Grabcad.com I noticed one curious phrase - rapala minnow spoon. Of course I had to look it up, both in terms of what on earth was it but also what page was attracting that traffic.
Turns out that Rapala Minnow Spoon is fishing lure of a quite unique design.
This unique design combines the silhouette of a shiner minnow with the rolling, flashing action of a spoon. Designed to fish weedless, the Minnow Spoon can be fished with or without a trailer. It will not spin or twist your line even at faster retrieval rates.
Designed to catch fish on the drop, the Minnow Spoon glides downward with a fishcatching wounded minnow action.
And how come web surfers come to GrabCAD to find information about this lure? Simple - our member d3print has modeled not only Rapala Minnow Spoon lure but also Abu Carcia uto 18g lure, Abu carcia spinnaren 7g lure and Kuusamo räsänen h 11g lure and this mean looking fishing hook. As always those CAD models are free to download.
Any other engineers out there with fishing as a hobby?
By the way, if you’re looking to purchase any of these lures then GrabCAD won’t be much help, you might have better luck at sites like www.lureshop.eu.
