Time to show off 10 more gems from the GrabCAD Vault! Scott Bruins takes a look at 10 awesome new models this week. Which ones did you find interesting? As always, if you need a model in another format, just leave a comment asking the uploader for a neutral format (step, iges, etc.) What are your favorites?
RC boat and 6 cyl. engine (SolidWoks 2010) is yet another eye catching model from Jeff Earnest. This miniature V6 is complimented by a carbon fiber boat hull and a host of beautiful renderings. The level of detail is fantastic and those exhaust pipes are killer.
Sticking with engines is Jan Elg’s amazing ⅕ scale V-12 merlin rr. No that is not a rendering that’s the real deal! Available in AutoCAD format, it took Jan 2 years to complete the working model.
Next up is this creepy crawly Scarab beetle (SolidWorks 2011) form David Thomas. Maybe not the most useful model but it is very cool. “Ok. next step. download, 3d print 1 million of these. recreate scene from 'The Mummy.'” - Josh Mings
Resident GrabCAD member Danny Tas put togeather this great mock up of the Exo Neutrino (.STEP) bike for the ongoing fender design challenge. Download Danny’s model and show us what you can come up with!
Here’s a model that would make Optimus Prime proud. This Tansformer (SolidWorks 2010) by Kir Ari looks great and transforms into a concept car inspired by the BMW GINA. Kir is a newer member to GrabCAD but has already uploaded quite the collection of amazing models.
The Eggsacutioner (SolidWorks 2010) by Dave Feathers is another one of those fantastic contraptions you never knew you needed. This interesting concept removes the shell of your hard boiled egg with ease.
Here’s something to go along with the GrabCAD guitar collection. This Boss ds-1 distortion pedal (Inventor 2012) by Joel Anderson would make a great addition to any rendered music scene.
This Canivet (SolidWorks 2011) by Thiago Rafael Neitzke belongs in the “MacGyver” CAD collection. This highly detailed Swiss army knife should be in every one’s virtual pocket. You never know when you may need to open a bottle of wine on the battle field!
As a certified PC guy I love seeing computer parts. Manolis Theofilos added this great CPU cooler to the collection. Want to know how to build a faster CAD PC? Check out our recent article for what you need to know.
Another great addition from Kir Ari is this 3D puzzle - alien city (SolidWorks 2009). His colorful and creative model is an instant attention getter. Add some aliens and robots for a great sci-fi scene.
Picking just 10 models each weak difficult and we have to leave out a lot of great models. So check out the ever growing library for all the great new models!
