Yes, it's finally here - challenge for all the robo-fanatics. MakerBot Industries is desperate for a new robo-mascot and looking to pick the winning design from a whole troop of charmers. The challenge has a robo-sweet prize - your very own MakerBot Thing-O-Matic 3D Printing Kit.
What can we say - the challenge itself is going to be massive fun. Based on many excellent robot models in the Library, the potential to have one kicking mascot for MakerBot is already through the roof. The sweetest thing - the winner is going to have his desk tuned up with a personal MakerBot.
A few things to keep in mind
- Any overhangs must be less than 45 degrees - anything more and the printing quality will suffer
- Robot must be composed of parts that are each smaller than 100x100x120mm - however, it will be cool to see how ingenious robots you will come up with the small parts
- Different parts can be made in white, yellow, orange, red, UV reactive red, UV reactive nuclear green, camping green, blue, black, and glow in the dark - so take advantage of the variety of materials and let the fantasy fly for the renderings
- Oh, add the MakerBot M logo on it, too. Either the Batman or Superman way or come up with other unique placements.
- You've got time to do the robo-moves until September 28th.
