If you're looking for a little inspiration, look no further than this video. This is a stop-motion rebuild of a classic Triumph Spitfire engine, taken from 3000 pictures. The original idea was to use the pictures to aid the rebuild, but the 11-month project took on a life of its own. Literally - it almost seems like the whole engine is alive! The backing music is "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" from Edvard Griegs "Peer Gynt Suite".
