CATIA has been around for longer than most of the GrabCAD Community has been alive. Originally developed internally to assist French engineers design, manage and manufacture the Dassault Mirage in 1977, it's now widely used to conceptualize, engineer or machine products, planes, cars - you name it. So it comes as no surprise that CATIA is one of the most popular tool on GrabCAD - about 18,000 use it and have uploaded about 4,900 files. So we felt like there needed to be a little spotlight on one of the best CAD programs out there!
Here is an extremely detailed car called the Stefeli SFG, created solely by GrabCADr Stelu HARSAN. It comes with stunning renders and a massive 180 mb for CATIA V5 R20. This is what we're all about!
One of our legendary GrabCAD engineers KFZ-Schule created this Suchoi S-47 Berkut out of respect for the design. Gotta love the forward-swept wings and canards control surfaces....
Here we have a Bugatti Type 57, crafted by GrabCADr Gábor Asztalos 'on his first try.' Who said you had to make highly advanced vehicles with CATIA?
It's a model of a Model Helicopter, created by GrabCADr Thomas Frevillier. Superbly modelled - more than enough to machine and assemble your own model chopper!
What some could call "A Tie-fighter with wheels" others would say "I want to ride in it anyways, especially off-road." Big thanks to Vasiliy for submitting this great design to the Makerbot Design Challenge.
We haven't managed to confirm if GrabCADr mad max is the same Mad Max we think he could be. But we do know he makes some of best-rendered brakes on GrabCAD!
To finish off this list, we included this recent addition to the library by GrabCADr Paulo Bonci. His Black Concept Bobber is really quite something - as always, render away and share lots (but don't forget to credit who made it!)
