Chuck Alexander is director of product management at Stratasys Direct Manufacturing. He has been a key influencer in the 3D printing industry for 30 years. He became a vanguard for the SLA-500, the groundbreaking 3D printing product of the early ‘90s. His focus on reducing delivery time and costs while improving quality and adding the latest in additive manufacturing equipment has contributed to the continued growth and profitability of Stratasys Direct Manufacturing. In 2013, Chuck Alexander was recognized for his contributions to the additive manufacturing industry with the Distinguished Innovator Operator (DINO) Award from the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG).
What goes into a “good” design?
That’s a very good question, and one we typically have to deal with in the additive manufacturing business on a daily basis. With 3D printing, a good design is more than its aesthetics, it must consider functionality, cost, time and repeatability.
