A new season! And, the GrabCAD community is about to tip 30,000 engineers! They've been busy too. This week Power Grabber and CNC Machine designer Marc Erasmus takes on a journey through the fabulous talent and ingenuity of the Engineers of GrabCAD! Hit it!
Executive Lounge Concept / Gee
Gee has designed an executive lounge (SolidWorks 2011/STEP) which unfolds from the form of an onion. Must admit, this is just something I never thought to do, but I am sure you will agree, he has made a stunning job of it. Now, how do I swing this idea past the wife? Mmmm, would look great in the garden, dear? ...and I could always use that spare hydraulic pump in the garage!
Helion TR9 / Nic
Just look at the curves on this car. This Helion TR9 GT (SolidWorks 2011/STEP) sports micro-turbines for a cool take on a electrical vehicle concept I wouldn't mind driving from one side of town to the other... multiple times!
Stirling Engine / David Tudors
Dave has 22 years of experience in CAD and draughting [I kind of see him at one of those large draughting tables here which probably means Dave has paid for his awsome skill in sweat and pencil shavings!] This is a stunning model of a stirling engine (AutoCAD). So now, who is gonna manufacture one and post the pics? Have a look at the rest of Daves model... you wont be dissapointed!!! What else can I say... stirling work Dave!
Taj Mahal / Pratik Sawardekar
Pratik has made an wonderful contribution in this stunning 1:1000 scale model of the great Taj Mahal of India (SolidWorks 2010/STEP). The Taj Mahal was built as a testiment to a mans love for a woman [who can balme him]and this model does the actual building tons of credit, have a look for yourself! Included are some great renders too....mmm good work!
Escher Illusion / Stef Varga
Stef has come accross this CAD model of an Mr. MC Escher Illusion (3DS Max/ZWCAD). As you all probably know, MC Escher was a dutch graphic artist who lived from 1898-1972. He remains one of the world's most famous graphic artists. His art is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world, as can be seen on the many web sites. It live on in 3D form thanks to Stef helping to promote his work. Now thats imortality for you!
Tadpole Trike / Corbett S
Corbet says this of his creation, "The tadpole trike is a single passenger electric vehicle that aims to inspire future designers and engineers, while encouraging the use of thoughtful and minimalistic design. The composite shell doubles as an aerodynamic body and a structural frame, saving weight and reducing parts. Pivot-less suspension utilizes the fatigue properties of carbon fiber for bending and eliminates bearings and bushings. " So now my question is, "Where can I get one?"
5-Axis CNC Machine Concept / Bettak
Bettak as sent us a model of a concept 5 axis cnc desktop mill (SolidWorks 2011). Now, I confess that any CNC machine designs really catch my eye and it's good to see folkd like Bettak putting their minds to good use. This is a worthy rffort at a CNC machine design and it would be a crime if Bettak didn't have a go at some more. GREAT work Bettak. What's next?
Heart Coils / Dlviir Singh Soohl
Now, it might well be that I can't pronounce his name, but I can promise you that this Heart Coil model is one of the most fun uploads I have seen in a long time! He also has some awesome renders... have a look for yourself!
Vertebrae / Tom Lehn
Do you have a model of a Vertebrae (IronCAD) in your anatomically detailed model arsenal? If not, you've got to check out this spectacular spine from Tom Lehn. Not only has he uploaded this, but many other body parts and interesting models!
Wheelchair / Mauricio Maeda
Last but not least, this wheelie-wonderful Wheelchair comes all the way from japan [hey look, that s far for me ...i am in Cape Town South Africa] This is actually my number one model of the week but i have put it at the end so we can end on a really high note! Guys, Mauricio thinks of himself as a bit of a begginner and has very little experience in design but i can tell that he will go very very far! This is an exceptionally good approach to wheelchair design and cad work in general and i think that it shows nicely in his 3d work here! Have a look, let Mauricio know what you think too as it is good to uncourage guys like this... man this is good! Keep up the awesome work Mauricio and let us know what you come up with next but another upload to GrabCAD!
This wraps up another amazing look at GrabCAD user's models over the past week! There are simply so many, please be sure to hit the library and like your favorites as well! As always, remember it's nice to upload a STEP or IGES so other with your particular CAD package can download, view and render your model. Thanks everyone! Until next week!
