We are zooming right along this week! With record numbers of engineers signing up we have a whole assortment of new user submitting fabulous models and taking part in our Challenges. Be sure to check them out and have a go! This week's models cover everything from cars to creatures. Hit it!
Our first model, comes from new user Aykut Dana. It's a shapely version of a Trike Motorcycle (SolidWorks 2011) complete with tires, engine and laid back handlebars. This is one sweet ride!
You may have seen JE Paz's article on RC Cars. Well, Mr. Paz has another project going and this time he's going big. Above is the beginning of a project to model a Tamiya TXT-1 RC Truck (STEP) from the ground up. Stop by and show your support!
When you're walking through the dark streets of 2D, there's nothing like some 3D to shed some light on the situation. Take for instance this nicely detailed Lamp post (SolidWorks 2011) by Andrey Chernorot. Definitely check out how he's modeled some of the features.
This model of a Police Watch (STEP) is magnificent. Grabcadder Denis Voltan spent quite a bit of time getting all the details just right and it absolutely shows.
There's nothing like a good knife to save your hide when you're out in the thicket surviving against all matter of beasty. This Army Knife (Pro/E / STEP) by Dlviir Singh Soohl has just the edge you need to survive and learn some modeling techniques in Pro/E.
I love the color Oliver Palmer used in the rendering of the Ford Fiesta (Sketchup). You'll also catch another rendering of the Fiesta with a nice camo cover.
Here is the first creature model on GrabCAD and boy is it a wild one. This is also the first model submitted that was created in Sculptris. Kalle Grennfalk converted it to .3ds brought it into Rhino and has uploaded for you to see.
This Airbus A320 model (SolidWorks 2010) has an amazing level of detail. Chao Wey created this as a part but if you're in the aircraft industry at all, this model is going to come in useful.
Ok, if you've ever tried to create upholstery or tucked leather in a prismatic modeling program, you know how difficult it can be. This upholstery model (SolidWorks 2011) by Pawel Keska is an incredible example and one to study.
Hubless wheel design is always interesting. You see it on motorcycles and bikes, but this shows how an ATV would look in a hubless configuration. The particular ATV (KeyCreator) was modeled by John Reis and is extremely bad ass.
Wow, that wraps it up for another week already! With so many incredible models in the library it's getting hard to pick just 10. Remember, it's always nice to upload a CAD format such as STEP so others can user, examine or render the models. And don't forget, there are badges to be had for uploading, rendering and more! Until next week!
