Interchangeability is at the heart of good mechanical engineering. And usually it's nice to have at your disposal a collection of standard parts on you at all times. Which is why GrabCAD's CAD library is around. This week we've got a sample of the best collections of standard CAD parts out there, saving you time every day you're in the office.
Here is a set of parametric wrenches by Andrey Chernorot, completed with a GrabCAD label. Nice touch.
For those working on interior work and need a complete set of gauges, look no further than Tom Van Ryn's work here.
Great set of Snap Fit Valves for tubeless and modern rims, designed and uploaded by Martin Spencer-Ford. Beware - CAD models aren't useful for manufacturing, but tolerance are good enough for education and rendering purposes. Of course, you'd never manufacture these without his consent, right?
Random set of pulleys and wheels by Akshay Andhare, including armed, rope, step-cone, V-belt and web pulleys.
Rusty Smith's collection of socket heads proven really useful to some, especially since they come in a wide variety of tips like half-dog, oval and cup points. Sometimes you need a cone point for one screw - this set saves you the time.
This is just one of the many metric sets that Heatnix uploaded. Image above goes to his profile instead of any specific set - nice job sir!
Although one thing Heatnix's collection is missing is a set of flathead hex screws - Miles Graydon has you covered!
What's a mechanical engineer without a massive socket set? Well, no one really. Henk's set here is really useful for a few doing workshop rendering or need to check tolerances for their own bits, chucks or bolt-heads.
99% of the World, the term ISO 7089 (din 125) would mean nothing at all. But for most of us on GrabCAD, it means a washer. But not just any washer, but a very special washer with very specific dimensions. A big thanks to Andri Laidre for uploading CAD models for all the possible permutations!
