It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. However, not all things change with time. We still saw so many amazing CAD models uploaded to the GrabCAD community and we want to recognize and appreciate the engineers that stood out from the pack.
Without further ado (and in no particular order), here are the top CAD models from 2021:
Walking Quadruped Robot DIY: Yunus Zenichowski
This model is flat out cool, and futuristic! It’s awesome to see that 3D printing is being used in cutting edge technology like this robot. I’d love to see this thing in action.
SKF Ball Bearings Selection: Edgar Gidoni
From a technical perspective, this is one of the cleanest models of the year. The detail in the rendering and models themselves is top of the line. We highlighted Edgar’s work in a blog post earlier this year, but we couldn’t leave his work off of this list.
Conveyor for ore sorting: Dmytro Minich
Although this model doesn't catch the eye, its functionality is undeniable. A perfectly constructed conveyor belt, useful for a multitude of sorting processes.
TREK Bikes Marlin 8 2021 model: Onkar Chavande
This mountain bike looks like a blast. The design is very clean and realistic, it’s one of the better bike designs in the community. I’d love to get out on some back roads and try this thing out for myself.
Automatic Drilling and Tapping Machine: Ali Shojapoor
This final model is another really technical and functional model. But, what drew me to it was the exquisite detail provided. Each part is separated out and the entirety of the process can be seen through 90 different CAD files, impressive work.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t add all of the models we wanted to this blog, but you can still find them in the library on the GrabCAD community!
