A month in the making, we’ve now chosen the fender design that was the best in the Exo Neutrino design competition. The honor, and a GoPro Hero HD camera, goes to Gee from Indonesia for his funky looking design.
Gee’s vision (his day job at Astra Honda Motors must have come handy here) was the best match with what the Exo team had in mind, it suits the scooter and improves the overall look of the bike. But it’s not just the looks, the way it fits on the bike is well thought through, the rear fender is especially well designed functionality wise.
"Some further tweaks and improvements and we’ll happily put those fenders on our scooter. The tweaks are required to make it easier to produce and give the fenders some extra strength and rigidness," said the Exo team.
Who nabbed the two runner up spots?
2nd place goes to Taylor G for his fender design with clean lines, robust mounting points and elegant design. The front fender works really well with the rest of the bike. Taylor went as far as to create an animation showing how to mount the fender.
Mateusz from Poland won the jury over with his easy-to-make distinct looking fender design. It got some interesting comments too: "segmented armored shell look", "makes it seem like it could actuate like a camera iris… or batmobile armor". Well worth taking a look.
While none of the submitted fender designs stuck to the technical requirements 100% the Exo team and rest of the jury decided that the entries were overall well thought through and inspirational, and it didn’t stop us from picking the winner.
We’ll be in touch with Gee, Taylor G and Mateusz about the prizes. A big "Thank you!" for all participants, another great competition done. What’s next? Luxury yachts and the deck vent design challenge. Go for it!
