A whole week left in the Exo scooter fender design competition - plenty of time to get out that sketchbook of yours, brainstorm a little and blow other contenders away.
Quick recap of the contest - Exo Neutrino is a small electrical scooter and it needs new fenders. The current ones don’t look as cool as they could, they’re not as light as they could be, nor particularly well made using the current approach. We dare you to come up with a better solution.
"What’s in it for me?" I hear you ask. Fame and glory, of course. Oh, and a GoPro Hero HD camera for the winner. It’s an impressive little gadget that is water proof, dust proof, action proof - strap it onto your helmet, bike, car, plane, dog or toddler and create some high definition television!
You’ll find all the rules and requirements in the Exo competition announcement post, I’ll show off some of the submissions so far.

How to win a competition?
- Follow the requirements - there aren’t many and they’re simple enough. Cross the t-s and dot the i-s and you’re a step closer to winning.
- Get creative - see what others have done and try to come up with something different. You’ll get noticed that way.
- Show different angles - it’s easier to get a quick feel for a design when you can see it from several angles, don’t hold back on snapping screenshots and uploading a few.
- Good renders work - there’s no denying that well rendered images help to win over other engineers and the jury alike. If rendering is not your strongest skill then ask others to help out, you’ll be positively surprised by how many helpful guys hang around on GrabCAD.
- Tell the story - use the model description field to tell how you came up with the design, what inspired you, how did you tackle the challenge, what did you consider - make it interesting. Picture tells the design story, your description should cover both the creative and the engineering part of your work.
